The Bündtlisried is a siltation bog, with an area of 15 hectares. The open water area is about 400 X 200 meters. In it there are large areas with dense reed growth. The water depth is very shallow, about 1 m. The mosaic-like division into reed areas and water areas with water lilies and dead trees make this area a valuable retreat for many birds and amphibians. However, sampling is only possible in a few places because the Bündtlisried is surrounded by a belt of dense vegetation and mud.
