The Mühlhalden pond near the village Dettingen is an artificial pond created by the dammed up water of a creek. It has dimensions of approx. 200 X 100 m. The pond was used as a mill pond and a fish pond. Since 1992 it has been under nature protection. In March 2000 it was completely drained and dredged. After refilling it has been in its present form. Due to the brook as inflow, water flows flows over the top of the dam in a concrete channel. In this concrete channel there are a lot of suctoria and also freshwater sponges. The pond itself is rich in plankton with changing composition over the seasons.
